The Christmas lights will be lit until Jan. 2, 2023. Unlike previous years, the lights will be taken down a week earlier due to the energy crisis and will be switched off at 11.45 p.m. instead of 2 a.m. Only on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve will the lights be lit for 24 hours. According to an announcement by the Champs-Elysees committee on Sept. 20, 2022, the shortening of Christmas lights hours this year will realize energy savings of 44 percent over this period.
